Charles Gore Participates in 8th Annual “We’re About Success!” Program

Bert Smith & Company took part in the eighth annual “We’re About Success!” program of the Howard University School of Business Center for Accounting Education (CAE). This program is geared toward helping young first-year African-American accountants learn new skills and techniques in order to help them continue their success in the accounting profession. Different from any other program of its kind, senior-level associates from various local and regional minority-owned firms have cross-firm interactions with junior associates to share their advice and experiences.

Major global, regional, and local firms send their highest achieving young associates with the most potential to attend. Charles Gore, an audit associate from Bert Smith & Company, attended the program and was very enthusiastic about it. “My experience at the CAE Program was very enlightening and empowering. It’s rare that you find yourself among so many like-minded peers and have the ability to network, discuss issues, and grow as a young professional. The program was very refreshing and gave me a new outlook on the possibilities of my personal and professional career development,” he said. Similar to Charles’ experience, many other young minority associates at the program thought it was helpful to them as well by giving them insight into career advancement and learning from seasoned accounting professionals.
