WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 13, 2013 – George S. Willie, managing partner of the Washington, D.C.-based accounting firm, , is being recognized by Howard University. Named in his honor, the 2014 George S. Willie Accounting Careers Awareness Program has been confirmed for July 6-11, 2014. This international program hosts high school students at Howard University for a week- long immersion into the field of accounting. The purpose is to inform and stimulate students who demonstrate an interest in pursuing the accounting profession. Additionally, as the program draws students nationally and internationally into Washington D.C., they are also exposed to various tourist highlights within the city.
Mr. Willie has served as a tremendous supporter and sponsor of the Accounting Careers Awareness Program since the 1990s. In tribute to these significant contributions, Howard University is re-naming the summer program in his honor. Mr. Willie has many long-standing ties to Howard University. In addition to being an alumnus of Howard University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude), he also is a former Assistant Professor of Accounting at Howard University. Mr. Willie commented, “It gives me great pleasure to act as a facilitator to the up and coming young business leaders of tomorrow. I am very proud of my association with Howard University and honored to be recognized with the naming of the summer Accounting Careers Awareness program. I know great things are happening at Howard University.”
